Airbus is entering the final preparations for the maiden flight of its A350 Freighter (A350F), marking a key milestone as the programme moves from simulator and ground testing to airborne flight-test activities.
The manufacturer has completed its Virtual First Flight milestone following around five years of planning, component development and demonstrator testing. The A350F is now preparing for a planned 400-flight-hour flight-test campaign.
Airbus is reportedly targeting September 29 for the aircraft’s first flight, subject to operational requirements and suitable weather conditions. However, the manufacturer’s September 14 programme update confirmed that the aircraft remains in the final preparation phase and did not independently confirm the specific date.
The maiden flight will mark a significant step toward the A350F’s entry into service.
