Airbus Defence & Space selects AFI KLM E&M to provide Component support for the NATO MMF fleet

Airbus Defence and Space (ADS) has chosen AFI KLM E&M to design and implement Component support services for the NATO MMF fleet. To this end, AFI KLM E&M will provide repair services for a large range Part Numbers (P/N), access to a replacement parts pool, and the supply of consumable/expendable parts, with dedicated logistics support extending to the MMF Main Operating Base (MOB) facility in Eindhoven (Netherlands).

Dual expertise in the A330 and defense products

The MMF cooperation program was launched in 2012, and oversees the operation of refueling aircraft by six European NATO members: Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Norway. The fleet currently features seven A330MRTT aircraft, with three additional planes to be added, two in 2024 and a final one by the end of 2026.

Tasked with ensuring the fleet is maintained in operational condition, ADS has selected AFI KLM E&M for component maintenance for these aircraft. In addition to its historical experience with the A330 as an MRO/Airline, AFI KLM E&M has developed comprehensive capabilities, skill sets and know-how on military aircraft, notably over the course of its longstanding collaborations with the French and Dutch air forces. In recent years, AFI KLM E&M has also been entrusted to provide dedicated Component, Engine and APU support for the Airbus A330/KC-30A MRTT used by the Royal Australian Air Force.

Alberto Badaya Garcia, VP Procurement Equipment & Systems at ADS, has stated:

"AFI KLM E&M is a world-renowned provider with a depth knowledge of the commercial A330 aircraft, given its dual role as MRO and aircraft operator. We’re happy to be collaborating with them for the MMF fleet support".

Anne Brachet, Executive Vice President Air France KLM Engineering & Maintenance, added:

“We’re proud of the confidence ADS has displayed in AFI KLM E&M by selecting us to provide MMF fleet support. AFI KLM E&M is very familiar with the needs, constraints and challenges faced by military customers, as we have been supporting the operations of the French Air Force, the Royal Netherlands Air Force and NATO for many years now. The support services for the MMF fleet have been designed to address these needs, focusing in particular on ensuring maximum availability of components via the use of the pool system.”
