Avensis Aviation (Avensis) has launched MEDIUS EVO, an evolution to the industry’s only reversible PTF conversion, which offers reduced loading and offloading times.
MEDIUS EVO is the only industry-specific Passenger-to-E-Commerce-Freighter (PTEF) conversion for widebody aircraft. It is an evolution of Avensis’ MEDIUS Class E PTF solution for the Airbus A330-200 and A330-300.
The new solution enables an aircraft such as an A330-200 to be loaded with custom unit load device (ULD) pallets in just 100 minutes, compared to over 250 minutes with MEDIUS. Additionally, the MEDIUS EVO modification is considerably lighter than previous Avensis solutions, leading to an optimised aircraft empty weight and a more fuel-efficient conversion product, boosting airlines’ operational efficiency.
Cristian Sutter, CEO of Avensis Aviation, said: “Our latest addition to the MEDIUS portfolio of freighter conversions showcases Avensis’ strengths in innovating ahead of the market’s changing needs.
“The MEDIUS EVO PTEF conversion is agile, reversible and applicable to wide-bodied aircraft, allowing airlines to maximise their fleets through reduced turnaround times. By incorporating new cargo loading capabilities, cargo can be loaded and offloaded faster than ever.”
MEDIUS EVO retains the MEDIUS Class E cabin but now incorporates a cargo loading system (CLS) enabling pallets to be loaded rather than boxes with the previous MEDIUS solution, along with a minor reconfiguration of the MEDIUS smoke detection system. It utilises the same aircraft and airport ULD operations as all ‘door’ freighters.
Avensis aims to convert an aircraft to a full MEDIUS EVO capability in just eight weeks, while upgrades from an existing MEDIUS to MEDIUS EVO can take as little as four weeks.
Unlike other market solutions, MEDIUS EVO can be installed at any Avensis-approved MRO globally, and is not restricted to a set production line.
