Barnes Aerospace has announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) to explore opportunities to expand Barnes Aerospace's manufacturing, aftermarket component repair and overhaul, engineering, and technology capabilities in Singapore.

The MOU builds on Barnes Aerospace's long-standing presence in Singapore and collaboration with EDB, establishing a framework for continued growth. In collaboration with partners across Singapore's aerospace and technology ecosystem, Barnes Aerospace will explore opportunities to develop advanced capabilities for aeroengine component manufacturing and repair while driving greater efficiency and productivity across its existing facilities.

"As we evaluate the next phase of our growth in Asia-Pacific, we see opportunities to expand advanced manufacturing and repair capabilities, develop new technologies, and strengthen the engineering expertise that enables us to solve complex turbine engine challenges for customers across the region and globally."

The parties will also explore establishing Singapore as Barnes Aerospace's Asia-Pacific Engineering Center of Excellence for new repair development and new-part manufacturing, as well as a regional hub for supply chain, information technology, and commercial leadership. The MOU proposes the establishment of a regional Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence focused on developing and deploying AI-enabled solutions for engineering, manufacturing, and repair operations. Barnes Aerospace also plans to leverage Singapore's technology development ecosystem as it evaluates the potential expansion, including continued engagement with the Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre (ARTC).
