Turkish Airlines Signs CFM Agreement for LEAP-1B Engines and Maintenance Center

Turkish Airlines has signed a memorandum of understanding with CFM International covering LEAP-1B engines, spare engines and maintenance services for up to 295 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, alongside plans to establish a dedicated engine maintenance center through Turkish Technic.

The agreement covers 150 aircraft associated with Turkish Airlines’ September 2026 fleet commitment, comprising 100 firm orders and 50 options for the 737 MAX. The remaining 145 aircraft include existing fleet members and aircraft expected to enter service through leasing arrangements.

Under the proposed cooperation, CFM International will provide the licenses and technical support required to establish the maintenance center within Turkish Technic, the airline group’s maintenance, repair and overhaul subsidiary.

The facility is intended to develop advanced engine module and component repair capabilities, allowing Turkish Airlines to improve long-term maintenance cost predictability and support operational reliability across its growing 737 MAX fleet.

Turkish Technic also plans to offer engine maintenance services to third-party airline customers, expanding its commercial MRO activities and supporting Turkiye’s aviation services exports.

The memorandum follows earlier fleet and engine-related disclosures dating back to April 2023. The companies did not disclose the financial value of the proposed arrangements, the maintenance center’s location or its expected operational date.

The agreement remains at the memorandum of understanding stage, with further contractual details yet to be announced.
