Embraer is making significant progress on its first E-Jet passenger-to-freighter conversion, staying on schedule for its anticipated completion. The company commemorated this milestone by unveiling a new livery during a dedicated ceremony for employees in São José dos Campos.
Key accomplishments in the conversion program include interior modifications such as seat and liner removal, floor reinforcement, installation of metal plugs on windows, and the implementation of a rigid cargo barrier. The cargo loading system has been successfully installed and tested with both pallets and containers. Noteworthy exterior enhancements have been made, including the installation of a new door frame and a corresponding door designed and manufactured by Embraer.
Ground tests for the E-Jet Freighter are already underway, with flight tests expected to commence shortly. The delivery of the converted aircraft is slated for the second quarter of 2024. This progress underscores Embraer's commitment to advancing its freighter conversion program and meeting established timelines.
