IPR Conversion has announced a landmark achievement: EASA has officially approved its Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the Large Cargo Door conversion of the ATR 72-600.
With this certification, ATR 72-600 MSN 1239, owned by ACIA Aero Leasing, becomes the first ATR 72-600 in the world to be converted from passenger to freighter configuration. This aircraft is not only a prototype — it represents the beginning of a new era for regional cargo aviation.
The aircraft was converted by Empire Aerospace in Idaho, a long-standing MRO partner of IPR Conversion with extensive experience on ATR aircraft.
IPR Conversion extends its sincere appreciation to ACIA Aero Leasing for its trust and partnership in bringing this pioneering program to life. This approval establishes IPR Conversion as the only company worldwide holding a certified passenger-to-freighter STC for the ATR 72-600.
FAA validation is already underway, marking the next step in expanding global market access.
This milestone represents far more than a certification. It positions IPR Conversion at the forefront of next- generation regional freighter solutions — enabling operators to transition toward younger aircraft, protect asset value, and prepare for the future of regional cargo logistics.
The converted freighter ATR 72-600 cargo era has officially begun.
