In conversation with Turkish Technic

Turkish Technic has taken a major step forward in global aviation maintenance by partnering with Rolls-Royce to establish a cutting-edge engine maintenance facility at Istanbul Airport. This strategic collaboration will see Turkish Technic servicing some of the world’s most advanced engines, including the Trent XWB-97, Trent XWB-84, and Trent 7000, which power the Airbus A350 and A330neo. Positioned at one of Europe’s busiest aviation hubs, the new center is set to handle up to 200 engine shop visits annually, significantly boosting Turkish Technic’s capacity and global footprint. Beyond expanding technical capabilities, this initiative aims to strengthen Türkiye’s aviation ecosystem by creating jobs, nurturing engineering talent, and enhancing the local supply chain, solidifying Türkiye’s role as a growing global hub for aerospace excellence.

1. What does the agreement between Turkish Technic and Rolls-Royce entail?

Turkish Technic- With this agreement, Turkish Technic and Rolls-Royce will establish an engine maintenance facility at Istanbul Airport. This new facility will provide comprehensive maintenance services for Trent XWB-97, Trent XWB-84, and Trent 7000 engine models. With this facility expansion, we will not only handle maintenance operations of Turkish Airlines’ massive fleet but also provide extensive services to Rolls-Royce TotalCare customers worldwide.

2. How will this new maintenance centre at Istanbul Airport benefit Turkish Technic’s operations?

Turkish Technic- As the second busiest airport in Europe, Istanbul Airport was a perfect place for this strategic expansion. With the new engine maintenance facility, we will be able to provide comprehensive services to a wide range of engine models as a licensed Rolls-Royce engine maintenance center.

3. What is the planned annual maintenance capacity of the new facility?

Turkish Technic- We plan to have the capacity of ~200 shop visits per year. This facility is expected to be one of the largest in the region and will solidify Turkish Technic’s position as a premier provider of engine maintenance services.

4. What role will Turkish Technic play in Rolls-Royce’s TotalCare service offering?

Turkish Technic- With this new facility, which will be one of the largest engine maintenance centers, Turkish Technic joins the global network of Rolls-Royce engine maintenance MROs. With fast turnaround times, world-class services, and flexible, tailored solutions, we will provide thorough services to customers of Rolls-Royce, ensuring efficient operations for their fleets.

5. Which Trent engine models will the new facility service, and what aircraft do they power?

Turkish Technic- The facility will provide comprehensive services for Trent XWB-97, Trent XWB-84, and Trent 7000 engine models, powering the Airbus A350 and Airbus A330neo aircraft, respectively.

6. How will this partnership contribute to developing Türkiye’s local aviation ecosystem and talent pool?

Turkish Technic- This new facility will help create a highly skilled workforce within the ecosystem while providing support for the development of local supply chains and domestic engineering talent. At full capacity, we aim to employ around 1000 new talents to provide world-class services to our customers worldwide. As one of the biggest contributors to Türkiye’s local aviation ecosystem, we aim to become the leading company in exports in our country.
