South Florida has welcomed a new and exciting Women in Aviation International chapter, SoFLY Southern Tropics, representing South Florida to the Islands. This newly formed chapter will provide a platform for women in the aviation and aerospace industries to connect, share their experiences, learn new skills, and advance girls and women in all aspects of aviation and aerospace.
According to Jessi Rowden, Manager of Chapter Relations, “South Florida is home to many prominent aviation and aerospace companies and organizations, and we are excited to establish a Women in Aviation International (WAI) chapter in this area. We believe that this new chapter will be instrumental in advancing girls and women’s interests and opportunities in aviation and aerospace fields.”
The new chapter will be led by a team of passionate and dedicated women who are committed to providing resources and opportunities, including scholarships, mentorship and career development programs, networking events, and aviation-related volunteer opportunities in the local communities.
“The chapter has generated a large following and interest from all corners of the industry,” said Jessica Matthews, President of SoFLY WAI. This includes pilots, aviation engineers, maintenance and airport management, fuel distributors, business aviation and more, Matthews said.
The new chapter invites all women in aviation to join and take advantage of the opportunities and resources available. “We look forward to seeing this chapter flourish and make a difference in the industry and local communities throughout South Florida,” said Rowden.
